Selena Quintanilla was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Music surrounded her from an early age, thanks largely to her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., a former musician who recognized his daughter’s exceptional talent.
Selena began performing with her siblings, A.B. Quintanilla and Suzette Quintanilla, as part of the family band, Selena y Los Dinos. Their early years were far from glamorous.
